Coins of Russian Empire

All coins that we use are guaranteed for weight and purity.

 

The obverses of all coins minted between 1895 and 1915 are identical. It contains the portrait of the Emperor of Russia Nicholas II and an inscription in Cyrillic: "Б. (-ожьей) М. (-илостью) НИКОЛАЙ II ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ ВСЕРОСС.

(-ийский)". The reverse of the coin shows the Minor State Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire as a double-headed eagle holding the scepter and the orb in its paws. Displayed on the eagle's chest is the Moscow emblem framed with the chain of Andrei Pervozvanny's order, the crowns above the eagle are decorated respectively with ribbons. On the eagle's wings, represented are eight Coast of Arms, one for each kingdom included in Russia: the Kazan Kingdom, the Kingdom of Poland, the Kingdom of Tauric Chersoneus, the Kingdom of Georgia, the Siberian Kingdom, the Principalities of Kiev, Novgorod, and Vladimir

(combined) and a separate one for the Great Principality of Finland. Below the emblem, the face value of the coin and its year of issue are minted. On the edge of the coin one can see a drawing resembling that of a 'Greek key' (5 roubles) or containing the inscription in Cyrillic about the content of pure gold (7.5,10,15 roubles) or silver (50 kopecks, 1 rouble) and the initials of the mintmaster of the Petersburg Emperor's Mint, under whose supervision the specific coin issue had been minted. For instance, АГ - Apollon Grasgof, ФЗ - Felix Zaleman, АР - Alexander Redko, ЭБ - Elikum Babayants.
